Job Story

The MDL is looking for a student assistant to help with lab and facilities support.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

Assists with supporting the laboratory information technology and facility, including desktop support, ticket management, computer inventory, software support, and other systems and tasks as assigned.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Current WSU Student. Students pursuing IT, computer science, biomedical engineering, and related fields, as well as an interest in clinical lab, medical science, and healthcare facilities.

Additional Information

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach as needed throughout the workday. Frequently required to move between workstations and equipment in a laboratory and office setting. Must be able to lift and carry computer equipment and supplies weighing up to 25–40 pounds. May be required to push or move rolling tables, carts, or storage units. Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to operate tools, computers, and other electronic equipment. Occasional exposure to laboratory environments may require following additional safety protocols, including PPE usage.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
