Student Leadership Coordinator
Position Introduction
Student Leadership Coordinator (SLC) supports the development and implementation of residential leadership initiatives, including student housing organizations and select campus-wide programming. This position serves as the primary advisor to the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and all Community Councils (CCs). The SLC supervises one graduate staff member and advises approximately 45 student leaders, supporting their leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and programmatic initiatives. Responsibilities include advising student organizations, coordinating recruitment and training processes, managing organizational budgets and purchasing processes, and supporting programming and engagement efforts across the residential community. The SLC contributes to Housing & Residential Life through participation in departmental initiatives, committee service, and collaboration with campus partners. This position has a variable schedule and requires evening and weekend availability to support student organization activities. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-off position.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
STUDENT ORGANIZATION ADVISING & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Provide comprehensive advising and developmental support for residential student leadership organizations, including the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and seven Community Councils.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMING
Support the creation and implementation of programs and initiatives that foster engagement, belonging, and leadership within the residential community.
RECRUITMENT, SELECTION & ORGANIZATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY
Design and manage processes that ensure the continued success and sustainability of student leadership organizations.
ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Oversee the administrative and operational components necessary to sustain student leadership organizations.
CAMPUS COLLABORATION & PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT
Strengthen partnerships within the institution and connect residential leadership organizations to broader professional networks.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree.
Equivalency/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Department Preferences
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services or related field.
- 24 months of experience supervising or advising student leaders, particularly within residence life or student governance organizations.
