Student Life Specialist

Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to lead the broader responsibilities of Student Life including supporting campus recreation, student engagement activities, budgeting, and service-learning under the direction of the director. The Student Life Specialist performs tasks and provides higher level planning, organizing, and delivery of extra-curricular programs for students. The person in this role will help to create a learning community that contributes to the overall experience and success of students during their semester at AUIB.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Each duty should:
- Assist the director to lead and coordinate student focused projects and programs while supporting the Student Life team.
- Supervise student initiatives such as club events, activities, programs, and projects such community service, workstudy, new student orientation; contribute to planning and executing student related initiatives.
- Work closely with Student Life staff, faculty and college administrators to initiative and lead regular student activities, and other student engagement initiatives.
- Be a resource to colleges, partner institutions, and Student Life Officers with event planning and student development strategies.
- Assist with logistics, budget management, following up with vendors and other internal departments.
- Provide administrative support with day to day (student) correspondence, track inventory and budget for the department, and undertake duties as appropriately tasked.
- Create and update databases and spreadsheets that support the operations of the Office of Students Life such as preparing and issuing of certificates and other student awards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education (Minimum / Preferred):
bachelor’s degree (master’s degree advantage) from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution in educational administration, higher education leadership, management, or related field.
Experience (Minimum / Preferred):
At least three years’ work experience (higher education setting advantage).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel) and database applications.
- Demonstrate high degree of service mindset and delivering results.
- Demonstrate high degree of professionalism and the can-do mindset.
- Adapt to work environment and maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to details.
Languages:
Near Native Speaker of English – Arabic an advantage
