About the Job
The Student Wellbeing Service aims to offer pro-active support, advice and interventions to any student who is experiencing a difficulty with their wellbeing/mental health. This team is made up of highly skilled Mental Health Practitioners, Counsellors, Therapists and Advisors offering a range of interventions including 1:1 and workshops/groupwork.
The purpose of this role of Student Mental Health Practitioner is to deliver high-quality mental health support to university students in a way that fosters student autonomy, resilience, problem solving and independence.
About Us
We are a busy but fulfilling Student Wellbeing Service that is made up of multi-disciplinary professionals who provide psychological support to students to enable them to engage and succeed at University. We work collaboratively with other teams within Student Services and the University as well as with external agencies including the NHS as needed.
We are committed to building a diverse team and welcome applications from all qualified interested candidates. We would particularly encourage applications from men, who are currently underrepresented in our mental health practitioner team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support initiatives focused on improving mental health engagement among male students.
About You
You will be an enthusiastic and creative individual with in-depth knowledge and experience of mental health especially in the higher education sector. You will be able to offer assessments and interventions 1:1 as well as be confident in offering workshops/groupwork.
You will work well in a team and be flexible in your approach to meet the needs of students and the service. You will be able to assess and manage risk and have an excellent understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
You will be an accredited Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or an Art/Drama Therapist who is experienced in managing a full client caseload in a fast-moving university environment.
