This role sits within The Future Students team within brand and marketing services. The team is responsible for raising awareness of AUT, supporting prospective students through their decision-making journey, and building strong relationships with secondary schools, communities and key stakeholders across Aotearoa.
Through school engagement, events, digital outreach and targeted programmes, the team works to ensure prospective students have the information, support and confidence to transition successfully into tertiary study.
The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
The Student Recruitment Advisor plays a key role in promoting AUT and supporting prospective students as they explore their future study options.
This permanent, full-time role involves engaging directly with secondary school students, careers advisors, whānau and community groups through presentations, workshops, events and one-on-one advising.
Reporting to the Student Recruitment Team Lead, you will represent AUT across a wide range of recruitment activities including school visits, expos, campus events and outreach initiatives. You will work closely with faculties, marketing teams and student services to ensure prospective students receive accurate, engaging and supportive guidance about study options and pathways.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging presentations and workshops to secondary school audiences.
- Representing AUT at recruitment events, expos and community engagements.
- Building strong relationships with careers advisors, schools and community organisations.
- Providing personalised guidance to prospective students and whānau about programmes, entry requirements and pathways.
- Supporting recruitment initiatives that contribute to AUT’s strategic growth goals.
- Working collaboratively with faculties and internal teams to promote programmes and opportunities.
- Supporting priority audiences including Māori, Pacific and other underrepresented learners.
This is a dynamic role involving regular travel to schools and events across Auckland and occasionally across New Zealand.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in a recruitment, advisory, education engagement, sales, or community-facing role.
- Experience creating & delivering presentations or facilitating sessions for diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with young people and their whānau.
- An understanding of the New Zealand secondary and tertiary education landscape.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Salary Range | Ngā Utu: $76,000 - $85,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
