Student Research Worker
Position Summary
Columbia University School of Nursing is seeking to hire one short-term casual research assistant to provide support for several NIH-funded projects focusing on primary care, the healthcare workforce, and the care and outcomes of older adults with chronic diseases, including dementia.
The selected candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and collaborate with other researchers to accomplish key research tasks. The candidate will work closely with the team to perform/maintain analyses in R software.
Additional hours may be available, with a limit of 20 hours per week, depending on project needs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- conducting statistical review of data sets and data analysis;
- cleaning and preparing data, as well as building statistical models, preferably using SAS or R;
- helping with data management;
- assisting with literature reviews, grants, manuscripts, and presentation preparation;
- participating in research-related meetings;
- performing other related duties as assigned.
This position is grant-funded, and continued employment will be contingent upon the grant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s diploma or equivalent;
- Knowledge of/experience working in statistics;
- Experience with R or SAS;
- Experience with research projects;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Solid analytical, writing, and data management skills;
- Solid experience with data management.
Preferred Qualifications
A background and/or experience in health-related research or biostatistics is preferred. A master’s degree in a related field (complete or in progress) is highly preferred. Working knowledge of social network analysis, especially packages such as igraph, is a plus.
