Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Student Support Officer to join Office of the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science.

The Student Support Officer provides specialist consultation and administrative support services to students, academic staff, and other stakeholders across the University. Working as part of the Specialist Student Support Team, the role contributes to the delivery of high-quality, efficient, consistent, and student-focused services that support the Faculty’s academic and administrative functions. As a front-line position, the Student Support Officer engages with a wide range of stakeholders, providing accurate advice, resolving enquiries, and supporting positive client outcomes. The role contributes to maintaining and enhancing the Faculty’s reputation for excellence in client service through proactive problem-solving and the timely delivery of effective student support services. This position reports to the Student Support Coordinator for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree. 

2. Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of professional, client service in a busy client-orientated environment including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage competing demands.

3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders across the University, leveraging strong interpersonal skills while adapting to changing priorities and operational needs.

4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally, including in situations involving sensitive or confidential information.

5. Demonstrated ability to use intermediate functions of multiple software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and enterprise-wide systems, to support service delivery.

6. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
