Student Transportation Aide

Job Responsibilities of the Student Transportation Aid:
- Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on timeliness and safety.
- Previous knowledge of the functionality of special equipment, such as wheelchair lifts and securement systems, preferred.
- Effective communication skills
- Patience and understanding when working with people with a wide range of disabilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and evacuation procedures
- Capability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors in a calm and safe manner.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work cooperatively with drivers to ensure passenger safety.
- Understanding of and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the transportation of individuals with disabilities.

Requirements:Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- 1-2 years’ experience in working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a direct-care setting.
- Experience with early childhood or school-age development strongly desired.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work at least 30 hours a week.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint background check and 10-panel drug screening.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on safety, respectful, compassionate service and timeliness.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
