This is a 10-month term limited position scheduled for August 1-May 31. The College of Communication at Boston University is seeking a Studio Coordinator. The Studio Coordinator, supported by a student staff, will primarily manage the technical and operational needs at Boston University's 808 Commonwealth Studios (808 Studios) and occasionally the college's other production spaces. The 808 Studios consists of two sound stages, an equipment room, and prop room with the potential for future expansion that will provide additional production facilities. The Studio Coordinator will be responsible for the upkeep of the facility and will serve as the primary liaison between the faculty who teach in the studios to meet the technical and operational needs of each class/production. This may include assisting professors during class hours with cameras, lighting, grip/electric, and safety protocols. When courses are not being taught in the studios, the Coordinator will work with students to schedule dates and times for practice and projects. This position involves close collaboration with the Assistant Director of Technology to ensure that the equipment and facilities are in working order. The position involves hands-on work, including installation, setup, and breakdown for a variety of curricular classes and events. Comfort with ladders and high-output studio lighting fixtures is essential. The Studio Coordinator must be able to work independently, adapt to changing situations, and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic academic environment focused on student learning. A high level of decision making is required. This position is expected to be on campus, and remote work will not be offered. The hours of this position are primarily during business hours, but occasional nights and weekends may be necessary.
