Position Highlights
The Study Abroad Coordinator is an integral part of the Arizona International Study Abroad team. This position is responsible for managing and promoting student mobility on assigned study abroad and student exchange programs, working with fellow coordinators on ongoing pan-office projects and new initiatives, and collaborating with University of Arizona departments and other U of A offices on global programming as it relates to the assigned portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities
ADVISING:
- Assist with communication, outreach, and recruitment activities to promote study abroad opportunities.
- Engage in general advising for students in initial stages of interest, providing comprehensive guidance and facilitating program selection.
- Advise students who have selected a program and provide application and program assistance, including information on all cultural and practical aspects, program acceptance, financial aid and scholarships, billing and registration, and health and safety considerations.
- Provide problem-solving assistance and answers to questions (within the bounds of FERPA) to parents, faculty, and staff.
- Assist faculty, staff, and students in interpreting both U of A and Study Abroad policies.
- Support students while abroad and assist with emergency/crisis responses as needed.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Manage assigned program portfolio, including coordinating student application and selection processes.
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of program and student data in Via TRM and Less Annoying CRM for all current, prospective, and returned study abroad participants for assigned programs.
PRE-DEPARTURE:
- Develop and/or facilitate program-specific orientation sessions, materials, and activities for outgoing students in collaboration with faculty, marketing, and programing team.
- Ensure students complete post-decision components of application.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR APPROVED PROGRAMS:
- Lead and initiate communication with faculty, partners/providers, and all other relevant parties regarding program details, requirements, recruitment, and facilitation.
- Collaborate with senior SA staff, U of A departments and Arizona International finance team to develop and coordinate new study abroad programs, including providing details of program proposals, budgets, target enrollment levels, partner agreements, and upholding University of Arizona and SA policies.
- Act as liaison between faculty and staff in Arizona International, U of A departments and colleges, and international partner institutions in identifying global opportunities and initiatives.
GENERAL OPERATIONS:
- Attend all Arizona International meetings and participate, as possible, in Arizona International events.
- Serve as member of Arizona International committees/task forces as required.
- Contribute to the collaborative planning and execution of University of Arizona strategic priorities.
- Represent the University of Arizona locally, nationally, and internationally, as needed.
- Maintain knowledge base in field through professional development.
- Attend conferences and workshops as appropriate on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Three years of professional administrative experience working in higher education or comparable setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- 1 year of experience working in the field of study abroad.
- Experience using Via TRM.
- Experience using a Customer Relationship Manager (Salesforce, Less Annoying CRM, etc.) and/or project management tool (Basecamp, Teamwork, etc.).
- Experience using Excel for basic reporting.
- Experience working with Drupal-based websites.
- Experience working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
- Multilingual.
- Experience living, working, or studying abroad.
