Study Coordinator

Responsibilities
The position involves a variety of tasks such as offering enrollment to patients, coordinating with other team members and the Biorepository, entering data, and other research related tasks.
The coordinator works under the direction of the Associate Director of Research and Program Manager for Total Cancer Care, consults with the team on project/study issues and/or solicits guidance as necessary. S/he/they works independently with health care providers and patients and should be able to wear the PPE necessary for the area where they will be working.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and performs responsibilities such as patient identification, recruitment, and offering enrollment in the Total Cancer Care study. Will need to be present to meet with scheduled patients as early as 5:30 am, M-F.
- Offer questionnaires to enrolled study participants regularly at the time of consent or via follow-up contact.
- Maintains information in patient databases and is responsible for data entry.
- Recognizes and informs study team of protocol deviations and participates in documentation of deviations.
- Assists the Total Cancer Care Program Manager and Associate Director with research and team related tasks.
- Works closely with the Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource and investigators and ensures proper collection and processing of specimens.
- Is responsible to arrange coverage when not present.
- Performs other responsibilities as required.

S/he/they prioritizes and helps optimize processes needed to achieve study goals. S/he/they functions independently under minimal supervision. S/he/they has an understanding of good clinical practice and research processes.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
- Some departments may require IATA DGR training within six months.
- This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
