Job Title: Substitute Custodian - YCCD

Site: Yosemite Community College District/Central Services

Salary Range / Other: Range 21: $20.08 per hour (Classified Salary Schedule 2025-2026)

Substitute Short Term Custodians may be called short notice (same day) to fill on any of the following shifts at any YCCD work-site, including MJC-East, MJC-West, Central Services and Columbia College:

Day Shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
Swing Shift: 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Graveyard Shift: 10:00 pm to 6:00 am

(May include evenings and weekends)

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs custodial work by maintaining the cleanliness of assigned facility areas, groups of buildings, and office spaces based on a predetermined schedule; observes and reports concerns involving general campus maintenance and security; and performs related work as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full working level class of the Custodial Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Positions in this class perform journey-level custodial and related duties in order to maintain campus facilities in a clean, orderly and secure manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of: Basic cleaning methods, procedures, and techniques; Cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment; Safe working methods and procedures; and more.

Ability to: Perform moderate to heavy manual activities; Perform a variety of custodial and routine maintenance activities; and more.

Education and Experience

Possession of a High School diploma or GED. One year performing duties related to the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities.
