Supervisor, Grants Compliance
Position Overview
The Grants Compliance Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations and activities for their assigned team. Approves travel transactions for assigned team and provides backup support to other teams (procurement/expense) as needed.
The supervisor provides team leadership, training and supervision of team members. Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance. Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks. Conducts performance reviews of team members. Coordinates cross-training, workload distribution, and backup with other Team Leads.
Serves as the main subject matter and policy expert for the transactions processed by their assigned team. Serves as an advisor to faculty and staff for policy interpretation. Assists in developing work guidelines and procedures. Continuously reviews work processes and recommends improvements. Ensures team is meeting performance, quality, and compliance standards; efficient, timely, and accurate processing in compliance with University policies, applicable state and federal laws and statutes, and sponsor requirements. Maintains or exceeds agreed-upon levels of service and customer satisfaction. Assists in determining staffing needs and making hiring decisions for assigned team. Gathers statistics and monitors team and individual contributor performance. Performs reporting on team productivity and analyzes productivity, timeliness, and quality of work. Keeps management updated on team performance. Coordinates with other Supervisors to ensure alignment and implementation of best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years of relevant experience required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic research tools and financial management systems
- Extensive experience in research administration in a university setting.
Desired Education and Experience
- Master's degree.
- 4-8 years of relevant experience.
- CRA, CFRA, CPSM or other related certification.
- Training in leadership, process improvement, or similar topics.
- Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor.
