Support students in campus accommodation through pastoral care, safety monitoring, and community engagement.

Mō te tūka | The role

This role is part of our Accommodation Services team, supporting students living in halls, flats, and houses on campus. You'll help foster a safe, inclusive, and vibrant residential community, especially during evenings and weekends. Your work will include pastoral care, incident response, and supporting student wellbeing.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Provide guidance to students adjusting to residential life
  • Monitor and support student wellbeing and safety at night
  • Respond to incidents and follow reporting protocols
  • Maintain a visible presence in the residential community
  • Support summer accommodation and conference guests
  • Liaise with Residential Assistants and managers

We provide an evening meal in the dining hall, offering a great opportunity to connect with students and Residential Assistants.

Hours + Salary

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Lincoln Campus, worked during the academic year from mid-February to mid-November (37.5 hours/week), with reduced hours over summer (30 hours/week) to support continuity of service.

Hours of work during the academic year:

  • Wednesday: 4:30 PM – 2:00 AM
  • Thursday: 4:30 PM – midnight
  • Friday: 4:30 PM – midnight
  • Saturday: 4:30 PM – 12:30 AM
  • Sunday: 4:30 PM – midnight

Salary: Fixed at $60,000 per annum. You will receive your full salary during the academic year and be paid pro rata over summer based on 0.8 FTE (30 hours/week).

  • Experience supporting personal development in youth
  • Strong communication skills across diverse cultures
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and email
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
