Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park. Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Analyst, Information Security defends against information security incidents and identifies, analyzes, communicates and contains incidents as they occur.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates the institutional extended Detection and Response (XDR) system to identify, correlate and address threats across identity and access management, endpoint management, network firewall, email protection and other institutional systems
2. Configures and runs the institutional Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system and actively monitor for alerts
3. Configures Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) playbooks to, where possible, automate security incident response
4. Deploys cloud-centric detection to detect threats related to cloud environments and services used by the organization
5. Works with threat intelligence and performs threat-hunting queries to identity and correlate potential security events
6. Provides incident response support, including mitigating actions to contain activity and facilitating forensics analysis when necessary and submitting incident reports
7. Documents compliance with security related laws and regulations
8. Supports the creation of business continuity/disaster recovery plans, including conducting disaster recovery tests, publishing test results and making changes necessary to address deficiencies
9. Perform security standards testing against computers before implementation to ensure security
10. Researches emerging threats and vulnerabilities to aid in the identification of incidents
11. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
May regularly travel to different LSC locations
May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations if necessary
May need to work weekends and outside of core business hours if necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or MA in computer science, information security, cybersecurity or related field
CC, SSCP, Security+, Network+, CSX-P, or related certification

Salary
Hiring salary range is $80,523-$92,601
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
