Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The System Director, Strategic Sourcing and Contracting is responsible for the enterprise leadership, administrative oversight, and systemwide coordination of all strategic sourcing, contracting, and value analysis functions across UCI Health. The incumbent is accountable for the development and execution of systemwide sourcing strategies that advance financial stewardship, clinical value, supply continuity, and operational performance. This role oversees the full sourcing lifecycle, including market analysis, supplier strategy, competitive sourcing events, contract negotiation, value analysis governance, and contract lifecycle management. The System Director provides oversight to Strategic Sourcing Analysts, Contract Administrators, and functional managers responsible for contracting and clinical value analysis, and is responsible for the selection, orientation, training, performance management, and professional development of all assigned coworkers. This position collaborates closely with physician leaders, clinical operations, finance, and executive leadership to ensure sourcing decisions support high-quality patient care while achieving measurable financial and operational outcomes, and advises executive leadership on how strategic sourcing and contracting may impact organizational strategy. The System Director exercises wide latitude of authority in determining departmental goals and measures to achieve systemwide strategic sourcing and contracting objectives.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in healthcare supply chain, procurement, or strategic sourcing
- Strong understanding of healthcare clinical supply chains and value analysis programs
- Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, spend analysis, and supplier performance measurement
- Strong ability to effectively work effectively across the organization across all levels.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders
- Minimum 8 years' experience of progressive management responsibility
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an executive leadership role (Director or higher) in a related setting
- Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience managing professional sourcing or contracting teams
- Experience overseeing enterprise contracting programs and contract lifecycle management processes
- Experience managing professional staff and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; advanced ability to deal with broad and diverse constituencies using advanced customer service orientation and skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated success leading complex sourcing initiatives and negotiating large-scale supplier agreements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, supply chain management, or related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as CPSM, CPSD, CPP, AVAAP, or Lean Six Sigma
- Master's degree in business administration, public health, health administration, or related field
- Experience working within academic medical centers or multi-hospital health systems
- Experience participating in group purchasing organization (GPO) or systemwide sourcing initiatives
