About Interdisciplinary Sciences Research Institute

The mission of Interdisciplinary Sciences Research Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University is to promote grain safety, food, biosafety, ecological safety, and people’s nutrition and health around the globe. The primary task of the Institute is to conduct fundamental and cutting-edge interdisciplinary studies to solve fundamental yet scarcely-explored scientific problems and serve key national strategic needs. The Institute is, so to speak, a “special zone” for innovation, a “talents reservoir” or a “major scientific achievements incubator” under the direct management of Huazhong Agricultural University. Currently with five research teams and 37 researchers, the Institute is now recruiting insightful global talents who have strong interests in interdisciplinary sciences and are happy to take the lead or participate in the research teams.

Research Fields:

biomedicine and health; information technology and smart agriculture; ecological environment and green development; other research fields which can promote the development of the Institute; including but not limited to essential biology (synthetic biology, single cell biology, computational biology, tumor biology), big data and artificial intelligence (big data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning), green agriculture (green production, nutrition and health, agricultural ecology), macro agriculture (agriculture policy research, ecological environment protection and governance), etc.

Vacancies: 2 to 3 research teams; 10 principle investigators (PI)

Requirements:

1. professional dedication, team spirit, strong communication skills, international vision, active thinking and great potentials；
2. a PhD received from renowned universities and institutes in mainland China or abroad; postdoctoral or teaching experience；
3. a systematic study on one of the aforementioned research fields; representative papers published in high profile international journals or highly cited papers in the past 5 years (listed as the first or corresponding author)；

Talents with management experience and leadership ability and the willingness to lead the Institute are welcome to apply for the position of dean or deputy dean.

Support for development：

With the reference to the corresponding positions in world-class universities, first-class support for top talents will be provided:

1. A qualified candidate will be employed as a PI or a full-time professor with the eligibility to be the supervisor of doctoral and master students (having sufficient admission quota). There is no limit to the quota of postdoctoral recruitment, and you will be provided with sound postdoctoral supporting policies. You will be supported to employ research assistants on your own.
2. A minimum of 2 million RMB as start-up fund will be provided. More funds are available if needed. Fees for large instruments and equipment will be provided separately.
3. Laboratory space and an independent office will be provided. Public instrument platforms on campus are available.
4. A competitive compensation package, including the salary and welfare as a full professor, and the post allowance guaranteed by the talent support system of the university.
5. On-campus housing service will be provided. Your children can study at the on-campus kindergarten, primary school, or middle schools. All are within walking distance.
6. You will enjoy the well-established public medical care and health services.
