Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Ko Te Kāhui te poari whakahaere Māori mō te Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences (FHES). It provides strategic oversight and cultural leadership to ensure Māori values, aspirations, and priorities are embedded across all areas of the Faculty’s teaching, research, workforce development, and community engagement.

Ko Te Toi Waiora te kaiārahi o te Faculty Māori Advancement team, ā, he tūru pūmau tōna i Te Kāhui. In this senior executive role, Te Toi Waiora acts as the principal conduit between Māori governance and faculty operations, providing strategic advice, executive-level reporting, and leadership to ensure governance decisions are translated into effective operational delivery across the Faculty.

Kei roto te Faculty Māori Advancement team and the Office of the Dean. The team works in close partnership with Māori staff, tauira Māori, iwi, hapū, whānau, and community stakeholders to advance Te Aronui and contribute to the achievement of AUT’s strategic objectives under Ngā Kete, Te Aronui, and the Research Strategy.

Te ārahi whakahaere me te whakatinanatanga rautaki | Governance leadership and strategic delivery

  • Hei hononga whakahaere matua mō Te Kāhui, provide executive-level strategic advice, high-quality reporting, and leadership in the whakatinanatanga of Te Kāhui priorities across FHES.
  • Hei kaiārahi whakahaere taumata-teitei, ensure Te Kāhui’s aronga rautaki is actively advanced, embedded, and sustained across faculty systems, portfolios, and institutional practice.
  • Ārahi i te waihanga me te whakatinana o ngā mahere mahi, ensuring Te Kāhui priorities are tuituia into operational planning, systems, and faculty culture.

  • Ārahi i te whakawhanaketanga o ngā hononga pono, whai mana hoki ki te mana whenua across all AUT campuses and the wider rohe, ensuring authentic partnership and meaningful collaboration.
  • Mahi ngātahi ki ngā iwi, hapū, ratonga hauora me ngā ratonga pāpori Māori, and Māori workforce initiatives to strengthen pathways that uplift oranga Māori, education, and professional advancement across the health and environmental sciences.
  • Whakatū, tiaki hoki i ngā hononga rautaki that support rangahau kaupapa Māori, auahatanga, me ngā putanga aratakina e te whānau ora, ensuring Faculty priorities align with Māori aspirations and community-led direction.
  • Whakatairanga i ngā tikanga whakawhanaungatanga across the Faculty, building pūkenga ahurea me te māia among staff, and ensuring all relationships reflect manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, rangatiratanga, me te tauutuutu roa.
