About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Fitness Centre and Pool is located within the Lismore campus and provides contemporary and purpose-built facilities to service the University students, staff and members of the public. Services include personal training, swim squad, group exercise programs and specialist services including exercise physiology and athletic development training.
We are seeking a Senior Gym Attendant to work closely with the Gym Manager assisting with the management of day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for our members. Your core responsibilities will include:
Greet and assist members, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and effectively.
Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring all areas of the gym are clean and well-maintained.
Oversee gym operations, including staff scheduling, and provide training and guidance to new gym attendants.
Engage with members to understand their fitness goals and needs, promoting gym programs and classes to enhance retention.
Ensure gym safety rules and protocols are followed, addressing any safety or security concerns promptly and effectively.
About you
You will be passionate about fitness and wellness, and have a keen interest in providing exceptional customer service. More specifically, you will have:
A qualification in a relevant field and experience in a leadership role in a gymnasium or similar, and at least 18 months experience in individual fitness coaching and group fitness.
Hold and maintain current Senior First Aid and Resuscitation certificates, an NSW Working with Children Check clearance and a current NSW Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
Proven ability to market and promote programs and membership for a gymnasium or similar fitness industry organisation.
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with the community to build brand reputation.
Experience in sports science, exercise physiology or similar, and/or registration with relevant professional body would be considered favourably.

The base salary will be in accordance with the Fitness Industry Award Level 5, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation.
