St. Catherine University welcomes applications for an Adjunct Lecturer in Data Science/Computer Science starting Fall 2024.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching: Deliver engaging and effective instruction in Data Science/Computer Science
  • courses, including lectures, and lab components as applicable.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty to develop and update course
  • materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure current and relevant content.
  • Student Support: Provide academic support and mentorship to students, including
  • office hours, advising, and guidance on projects and research.
  • Assessment: Design and grade assignments, exams, and projects that accurately
  • measure student learning and progress. Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and
  • provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance. Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with developments in the field of Data
  • Science/Computer Science to bring innovative and cutting-edge knowledge to the
  • classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, or aclosely related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college or university level. Professional experience in the industry, particularly in machine learning, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and data analysis tools. Knowledge of deep learning and artificial intelligence is a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to
  • convey complex concepts to students of varying levels of proficiency.
  • Commitment: A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning
  • environment for all students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in higher education.
  • Experience using industry-standard data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R or
  • similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Experience designing and developing machine learning projects or applications.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning environments.
  • Experience working in a minority serving institution.
