What will you be doing?

Over the last 15 years, the Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC) has become an indispensable element of the University of Bristol’s world class research and teaching. The ACRC serves as the cornerstone of computational and data support for a diverse range of endeavours. With thousands of researchers and projects relying on our infrastructure, your role will be pivotal in driving impactful discoveries forward. Our academics are involved in computationally and data-intensive projects such as large-scale climate and earth system modelling, combining genomic and paleontological information to study the coevolution of life on Earth, and applying genetic epidemiology methods to analyse causes of chronic disease and improve health outcomes. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Ensuring the accessibility, security, and efficiency of our large-scale computational
  • Developing new platforms and tools to enhance our suite of computational infrastructure. 
  • Monitoring and reporting on the health and performance of the infrastructure.
  • Responding to issues and problems which may arise from the network and data centre infrastructure, as well as computational environments.
  • Identifying and leading initiatives to enhance the user experience and the operation of the research infrastructure, such as by building in automation.

The salary will start at £48,350, rising to £54,395, with an additional market supplement of £7,771.
