Role Description
Role
The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) at the University of York is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow within the Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment team, on a full-time open contract (part-time applications will also be considered with a minimum of 0.8 FTE).
The successful applicant will expand CHE’s research activities in the area of health technology assessment (HTA) and economic evaluation, including as part of our programme of technology assessment for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). The role involves critical review of evidence presented in company submissions to NICE, as well as undertaking new synthesis and decision-analytic modelling relating to pharmaceuticals and diagnostic technologies; there will also be scope to develop HTA methods research and provide scientific leadership of project work. The Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow will be based in the CHE, one of the world’s most prominent academic health economics research centres. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
For both grades:
- Master’s level qualification in health economics/economics or other quantitative subject such as applied mathematics, operational research or applied statistics.
- A PhD or equivalent research experience in health economics or closely related quantitative project.
- Evidence of strong quantitative skills.
- Advanced skills in use of spreadsheets and/or statistical software packages.
- Knowledge and understanding of economic evaluation and health technology assessment, and a range of research techniques and methodologies for the evaluation of interventions.
- Highly developed communication skills.
- A track record of publication in high quality academic journals.
- Experience of carrying out independent and collaborative research.
- Experience in supervision.
- Development and delivery of training or capacity building activities
For appointment at Grade 8, applicants will also need:
- Well-established national and international reputation in area of research.
- Successful management of research projects including managing the work of a research team and providing it with expert advice and guidance.
- Experience of building and leading successful research teams.
