About the role
Bournemouth University is seeking a new member of staff to lead the Approved Mental Health Professional programme. As a qualified AMHP with experience in mental health practice, your skills and knowledge will greatly enhance the delivery of social work education at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring that our students receive high-quality training and education in their field.
As a programme lead you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the programme across three geographical areas by a group of experienced Lecturing Practitioners and deliver some of the units yourself either online or in person.
We are specifically looking for a practitioner who is interested in transitioning to academia and has a passion for supporting students in mental health practice. As a program lead, it is important to draw upon both foundational social work and specialist AMHP knowledge and experience. This will allow for a well-rounded approach to teaching, assessment, student support and development, both academically and on placement. Additionally, engaging in knowledge exchange and research will further enrich the learning experience for students. As an applicant, it is expected that you will utilise your expertise in both areas to effectively contribute to the delivery of these programs.
The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences (HSS) is central to this vision, working closely with practice partners to prepare and develop health care and social work professionals to provide high-quality care. This role is based in the Department of Social Science & Social Work. It offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within BU and with external partners to develop an excellent student experience and promote change in cooperation with our practice partners.
You will be qualified to Doctorate level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from the date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
This post is for a part-time position (0.8 FTE) but the employer is open to considering fewer hours for the right candidate. We are also open to job shares, where two individuals split the responsibilities of the job. However, having a job share partner is not a requirement to apply for the position. Any applicant will need to be a qualified social worker who are also registered (or eligible to register) with Social Work England as Approved Mental Health Professionals.
This position will not typically meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System, unless exceptional circumstances apply, e.g. meeting the ‘new entrant’ criteria.
