The English Department offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses to meet the needs of students with a diversity of interests and backgrounds. By studying literature, critical theory, rhetoric, composition, and creative writing, students in the Department of English acquire experience in intertextual and cross-disciplinary inquiry represented by many cultures and historical periods. They learn critical approaches to texts and issues that enable them to interpret and compare positions; to read closely, critically, and with empathy; to conduct research; to weigh evidence; and to write with insight and expertise.Position SummaryThe Creative Writing program is looking for qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Nonfiction Writing. Courses include:

o Wr 428 Advanced Media Writing
o Wr 456 Forms of Nonfiction
o Wr 457 Personal Essay Writing
o Wr 458 Magazine Writing
o Wr 459 Memoir Writing
o Wr 507 Nonfiction Seminar
o Wr 523 MFA Core Workshop in Nonfiction
o Wr 528 Advanced Media WritingMinimum QualificationsAll courses: Masters or PhD in Nonfiction, Journalism, or a related field.Preferred QualificationsFor 300 and 400-level courses: Two quarters of demonstrated successful teaching of college level nonfiction writing and significant publications in the genre. For 400-level courses: One year demonstrated excellence in teaching nonfiction writing at the college level, and significant publications in the genre. For 500-level courses: Experience teaching at the graduate level.Key Cultural Competencies• Creates an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
