Job description
The Fellow is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to collaborate in the Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF) research project, ‘Is evolution predictable? Unlocking fundamental biological insights using new machine learning methods’. We hope to recruit a researcher with strong biological data science skills to collaborate in machine learning, and other statistical, analyses of biological digital data. The PDRA will play a key project role in managing “big data” biological image datasets and developing, testing, running and interpreting digital data analysis pipelines, in collaboration with other members of the project team.
The successful candidate will conduct collaborative research as part of the Future Leaders Fellowship ‘Is evolution predictable? Unlocking fundamental biological insights using new machine learning methods’, with Fellow Dr J. Hoyal Cuthill and collaborators. Responsibilities include data management, running, modifying and testing machine learning analyses, statistical data analysis, publication preparation and writing, maintaining collegial relationships with project partners, and public outreach.
Please note, the succesful candidate will be appointed to the post of Senior Research Officer.

Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold a relevant doctoral-level degree in biology, computer science, or another discipline relevant to the project, or equivalent professional experience or practice, or be close to completion of PhD. Along with a Bachelor’s-level degree in biology, computer science or another discipline relevant to the project.
You will have the ability and willingness to contribute to day-to-day management and maintenance of project datasets and methodological pipelines, including providing relevant support and training to other members of the project team.
As part of the process and to be successful you will be required to demonstrate how you your research has been impactful within and beyond the academic sphere, recognising the importance of this and the effect it will have on the University.
