Lecturer of Sport Management

Description

The Sport Management Department in the Pompea College of Business at the University of New Haven invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track position at the Lecturer level beginning in August of 2024. This position includes teaching, service, and research expectations along with a responsibility to take an active role in student growth, developing experiential learning opportunities and maintaining/strengthening industry relationships.

The University of New Haven, founded on the Yale campus in 1920, is a private, coeducational university situated on the coast of southern New England. It’s a diverse and vibrant community of more than 7,500 students, with campuses around the country and around the world. 

 

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with qualifications and teaching & research interests in one or more of the following fields: sport finance, revenue generation in sport, and event and venue management. Ideal candidates should demonstrate applied teaching experience and the ability to teach effectively in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments. Impactful, applied research is valued highly within both the department and the college.

Ideal candidates will have an earned doctorate in sport management or a terminal degree in a relevant field, or a master’s degree with a minimum of five years of sport industry experience by the date of appointment. Ideal candidates will have willingness/ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate sport management courses. Strong applicants must demonstrate a continuing commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and service.

 

Candidates should have strong communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, student orientation, and an interest in applied research. All faculty members are expected to engage in student-focused activities such as advising and career mentoring. As an AACSB accredited institution, faculty members are expected to maintain an active record of relevant scholarship.
