About the Role
The Laboratory Services Manager is accountable for the strategic support and advice, stakeholder management, critical problem solving and supervision of the overall operation of the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation laboratories. The incumbent leads the technical team and coordinates technical resources to support the teaching and research activities of the school.
Responsibilities include environment, health and safety (EH&S), risk mitigation and other regulatory compliance, laboratory supplies procurement, staff rostering and work-flow allocation, assurance and compliance of laboratory standards and equipment development, maintenance and repair, to ensure that the teaching and research needs of the discipline group are met efficiently and effectively, and within policies, rules and regulations.
The Laboratory Services Manager will have the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days per week during semester breaks, with the remaining days to be carried out on campus. It will be a requirement of the role to work fully on-campus during university sessions, and during research projects where technical support is required.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate human and physical resources for technical support.
• Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage change and multiple projects.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact and negotiate with various stakeholders.
• Ability to train staff and students in laboratory techniques and equipment use.
• Ability to develop, interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
• Knowledge of general laboratory techniques and safety and wellbeing principles.
• Knowledge of the National Sport Science Quality Assurance Program.
Remuneration/Salary![]()
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary: $115,265 to $131,274 pa (HEW 8)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time, and the appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
