Pay rate is between is $10,696 and $11,361 per standard 3-unit course, based on the number of years of teaching experience at the university level.
Purpose:
The Department of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, seeks to Annual Lecturer to teach practicum-related courses and support the practicum program within CPSY. The individual will also have the opportunity to teach courses in their area(s) of expertise within the Departments of Counseling Psychology or Education. Annual Lecturers represent salaried fixed term faculty positions. A 100% time teaching load includes 9 courses; this annual lecturer can work between 65-100% time depending on their interest and expertise. The equivalent of four courses or 45% of a FT role will be devoted to practicum work, with the remainder filled in with teaching.
Practicum Experience Lead:
This individual should have a passion for graduate education and supporting graduate students in Counseling Psychology to learn and grow through their work in the field. . Specifically, this appointment will take primary responsibility for the non-licensure track CPSY students, who pursue either an MA in Counseling or an MA in Applied Psychology (both are 45-unit degrees). For students in the MA in Applied Psychology or MA in Counseling programs, a one quarter practicum is required in their degree program. The person in this position will serve as the faculty lead in the design and execution of these practica – helping students identify their career aspirations and how to utilize the practicum experience to further those goals and working with agencies, organizations, and faculty to design meaningful, individualized practica for students that further their academic and professional development.
In addition, this individual will support the clinical practicum work of the clinical practicum lead. The Assistant Professor of Teaching in Counseling Psychology designs and manages the practicum experience for students seeking clinical licensure, and in this work ensures that the program, sites, and practicum experiences fulfill both the requirements of the BBS and ensures students gain meaningful, supervised experience as a clinician. The Annual Lecturer will be a support to this work in the ongoing work of arranging practica and ensuring students are prepared – including supporting the development and assessment of practicum sites, managing BBSE requirements, advising and mentoring students, and being a point of contact between the CPSY program and external placements that offer training and field experience for our CPSY students.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree: PhD or PsyD preferred; minimum requirement is MA and extensive related experience
- Licensure as a mental health professional in California
- Experience supervising or managing professional training and / or experience related to
