The role
The University of Bristol Business School is seeking to appoint a Chair in Marketing on a full time and open-ended basis.
This is a key appointment within the Business School and you will have an international research profile in the areas of quantitative marketing, marketing analytics, or digital technologies (including Web 3.0 and Industry 4.0). (including Web 3.0 and Industry 4.0). The Chair would support our ambition to develop distinctive contributions in these areas and particularly through interdisciplinary working with STEM disciplines, for example computer science and engineering.
We have a preference for candidates that enjoy working with other disciplines and seek to have impact beyond academia. You will be motivated to engage and inspire our undergraduate, postgraduate and executive students, and be expected to undertake a leadership role. Importantly, you will be a good colleague who has the experience and interest to mentor colleagues within the marketing and consumption group.
What will you be doing?
- Consistently pursuing high quality research and impact in marketing and/or consumption.
- Maintaining an international profile/network and attracting external research funding.
- Mentoring colleagues in the Marketing and Consumption Academic Group.
- Ensuring excellent student experience through teaching, marking, supervising at undergraduate, postgraduate, executive, and doctoral levels, and leading curriculum design, development and enhancement.
- Proactively and visibly promoting and contributing to the school’s strategic research ambitions, e.g. in relation to interdisciplinarity.
- Motivating staff to succeed in their chosen career path.
- Actively engaging in collaborative opportunities with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
- Demonstrating excellent citizenship, growing academic community, performing a leadership role in the school (e.g. Head of Academic Group) and contributing to the wider University.

- You have demonstrable previous experience to conduct the role with high levels of professionalism and collegiality.
- You have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills, and a proven ability to build networks and partnerships.

- You have a world leading and internationally excellent research portfolio in marketing that complements and extends the existing strengths and priorities of the Marketing and Consumption Academic Group.
- You can work collaboratively to create synergies with relevant Schools, and University entities to identify opportunities for meaningful interdisciplinary partnership and successful impact-creation for research.
- You have a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate, executive and doctoral levels.
- You can demonstrate awareness of the academic needs of all kinds of students (e.g. undergraduate, postgraduate, executive, doctoral).
- You have evidence of excellent citizenship and academic leadership with the ability to motivate and develop others as well as the enthusiasm to develop and implement the school’s strategy (e.g. in executive education).
