Job Description/Responsibilities 

Seeking Assistant Professor of Acting. The successful candidate will participate in department/university service, will maintain an active creative/scholarly agenda, and will teach a 3/3 load that will include all levels of Acting. Other teaching may include Multi-Cultural Theater and Dance Seminar and Special Topics in Theater History/Literature (emphasis in Women's and/or Minority and/or World Theater depending on experience and interest.)

Duties include: multiple levels of acting, including voice for actors; Producing Director SIUE Black Theatre Workshop; directing one mainstage production/musical per academic year; advising/mentoring department majors; recruitment activities including attendance at High School Thespian Festivals; advising student productions. Additional summer opportunities in teaching and/or directing may be available. Depending on qualification and interest, the candidate may teach Musical Theater Workshop and serve as Head of Musical Theater specialization.

Master's degree in theater or a related field required; MFA preferred. Professional performing and/or directing experience and prior university teaching experience preferred. Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in theater or a related field required; MFA preferred. 
  • Professional performing and/or directing experience and prior university teaching experience preferred. 

Terms of Appointment 

Full-time, continuing 9-month tenure-track position.
