Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Badminton Head Coach, the technical specialist will be expected to assist the head coach in the implementation of performance and development initiatives that will help ensure the success of the badminton student-athletes. Expected to assist head coach with other related functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training athletes in Badminton by analyzing their performances, instructing in relevant skills and by providing encouragement
- Review and monitor training and practice sessions
- Provide feedback to athletes on their performance during training, tournaments, evaluations, or when necessary
- Assist group and individual badminton lessons: implement training strategies and tactics
- Maintain and distribute on-court team equipment. Prepare practice and game equipment ahead of time
- Analyze data to identify trends in games, tournaments, players and teams and report information back to head coach
- Record activities and keep track of statistics during tournaments and games.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Badminton Coaching Experience
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, evaluation and planning skills
- Strong desire and dedication to the development of the student athletes
- Willingness to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings and weekends
- Working hours will depend on the time and resources needed during different parts of the season
- Valid and current police check
- Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
