About the role

In this role you will work within the Planetary Science Group studying the solar-terrestrial interaction, specifically solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, using a wide range of space-based and ground-based observatories. The role is funded for 4 years by the RISER (Radio Investigations for Space Environment Research) NERC Large Grant. The aim or RISER is to determine how Interplanetary Scintillation (IPS) observations of density and velocity structures in the inner heliosphere, from LOFAR and other radio telescopes, can be used to provide advance warning of the arrival of hazardous space weather conditions at Earth. You will work collaboratively and independently as part of the research team to achieve defined milestones, and produce high quality research as part of your role.

About you

We are looking for someone with strong programming skills in Python, IDL, FORTRAN, or other similar language. You will show a record of productive research and can demonstrate the ability to produce published research papers.
