Job Summary
Reporting to the Chair, the Research Coordinator provides support across various research projects in a technical capacity including, but not limited to, software research, technical tools research, data analytics, data visualization, website design, website maintenance. Supports other members on the team with participant tracking tools, analysis tools, and data collection methods. Coordinates and communicates with external team members, vendors, and community partners.
Job Duties
- 25% - Engages with community participants in English to gather their input for research. Performs data collection, data analysis, and data tracking. Transcribes qualitative data in English. - (Essential)
- 15% - Conducts background research for all research projects. Supports science communication and writes documents. - (Essential)
- 10% - Designs and provides feedback for forward facing materials such as advertisements, flyers, posters, pamphlets, publications. Conducts community outreach in English for various studies. - (Marginal)
- 20% - Communicates and collaborates with community and academic partners on all aspects of ongoing research. Coordinates and organizes weekly meetings with the team and other project partners to track project work and timelines. Coordinates undergraduate student research team. - (Essential)
- 14% - Conducts software research to determine the best software tools to integrate into various project workflows. Assists with contract creation for external vendors. - (Essential)
- 16% - Assists with media creation including, but not limited to, script writing, casting, storyboard feedback, technical filmmaking consultation, contracting with external media production services. Designs, updates, and maintains various websites as required for each research project and the research group overall. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or related technical education in a data science field including, but not limited to, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science.
- One year experience working in a research team setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer operating systems, research software, analysis software, and data collection tools/software such as box data storage system, Atlas.ti.
- Ability to analyze, synthesize and organize data, and present findings in a comprehensible manner for different audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.
- Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.
- Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with website design/implementation, and contract creation.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $20.00 - $24.00/hr
If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
