Description
Applications for Part-Time, Adjunct Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District. They will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR Associate’s Degree and six years of professional experience OR the equivalent OR a valid California Community College Instructor Credential in Broadcasting Technology.
The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree. Professional Experience Includes Teaching Experience. Unpaid experience may be counted if it entailed responsibilities substantially similar to those of relevant paid positions in the field. Applicants bear the responsibility for verifying all experience by documentation satisfactory to the districts.
Additional assessment is required for Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your on-line application.
Duties
Southwestern College is looking to hire a part-time instructor to teach:
- FTMA 105: Introduction to Writing TV, Motion Picture & Media: The curriculum introduces basic writing for feature film, television, and electronic media. Emphasizes preparing scripts in proper formats, including fundamental technical, conceptual, and stylistic issues related to writing fiction and non-fiction scripts for informational and entertainment purposes in film and electronic media. Includes a writing evaluation component as a significant part of the course requirement.
Course time is TTH from 10:10 a.m.-11:35 a.m. at the Chula Vista Campus, and the first day of classes is August 26, 2024.

SALARY SCHEDULE: Academic Part-time - Instructional
All District employees must participate in the COVID-19 Vaccination Program, which requires them to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

Candidates selected for employment with Southwestern Community College District must be fingerprinted by an electronic fingerprinting service (i.e. LiveScan) within 10 days of employment; provide clearance of tuberculosis (dated within the past 4 years and renewed every four years as a condition of continued employment) within 60 days of employment; provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Successful candidate selected may be assigned to any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, Crown Cove, National City, Otay Mesa, and/or San Ysidro).
