Adjunct Instructors for Tozer Seminary, 2022-2023


The Tozer Theological Seminary welcomes applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Bible/Theology/Ministry/Missions instructors to teach a range of courses in the in the Tozer programs (undergraduate and graduate).


Courses that are normally covered by adjunct faculty include:


UNDERGRADUATE COURSES (sample listing):

  • ANTH 4110 Cultural Anthropology
  • RELI 3200 World Religions
  • THEO 3250 Events in Church History
  • CCST 3050 Introduction to Community Development
  • CCST 3740 Peoples of the World
  • CCST 4022 Issues in Missionary Life
  • CCST 4120 The Christian and Social Justice
  • Various Ministry-Related Courses in the 3+2 BA/MA program as needed

SEMINARY (GRADUATE-LEVEL) COURSES (sample listing):

  • Certificate of Christian Ministry Courses (30 credits) for specialized cohorts (i.e., Hispanic, Chinese, LA Basin Site, and Woodland Site)
  • Various Theology Courses in the MAML and MDiv programs as needed (including Apologetics; Bibliology; Sin, Salvation, and the Mission of God; and Alliance Ministry)
  • Various Ministry-Related Courses in the MAML and MDiv programs as needed (including Preaching the Word, Pastoral Leadership, Pastoral Care, Personal Health of the Leader, and others)
  • Counseling-related coursework for the non-licensure MA in Community Counseling (Human Services) program

Status: Part-time

Appointments are made on an ongoing basis and are contingent upon instructional needs each semester. An appointment in one semester is not a guarantee of and appointment in subsequent semester.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Bible, Theology, or Ministry at the undergraduate level; an earned doctorate within the appropriate field for the graduate programs
  • Experience teaching Bible/Theology/Ministry courses or Counseling-related course at the college or graduate level
  • Commitment to high quality instruction in a learner-centered environment
  • Ability to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications
  • Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use including the ability to teach online or in a hybrid modality
  • Willingness to become proficient using the Learning Management System (LMS known as CANVAS to link assignments, learning outcomes, and assessments together for the students taking courses)
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and personal involvement in a local church
  • Affirmation of the Christian and Missionary Alliance theological and policy positions with preference given to those who are appropriate licensed and/or ordained within the CMA

  • Personal relationship with Jesus, a vibrant Christian faith, and a commitment to Christian community; capable of sharing faith and engaging in conversations about Christ.
  • Demonstrate Simpson University Values in the performance of all duties.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information, data and records. Properly use tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills in the performance of job duties.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and communication skills in the performance of job duties.
  • Supervises employees in accordance with Simpson University policies and procedures (for supervisory positions)
  • Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area.
  • Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation:

Payment for instruction follows a pro-rated structure when a class has less than ten students. The compensation schedule is available as public information. The University may elect to cancel low enrollment courses.
