Position Overview

The School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University, is seeking applicants to apply for a position that we currently have available for a Research Technician. The purpose of this position is to provide field-based technical assistance to on-farm research projects within the Whenua Haumanu Programme.

Led by Massey University, the Whenua Haumanu Programme is the cornerstone of MPI’s portfolio of regenerative agriculture projects. It is the most comprehensive research programme in New Zealand on the effects of different pasture mixes and management practices on our pastoral sector.

A minimum of a Degree or Diploma level in Agricultural, Horticultural or Animal Science (or alternative relevant science), or equivalent technical experience is required. Experience with, and a strong interest in, field experimentation and data collection, both manual and automated via electronic equipment is required. Competency with basic IT applications and computer software is required as is a full driving licence and the ability and competency to drive 4WD vehicles.

This role will provide you with the prospect of expressing practical experience and technical know-how while being exposed to exciting new research and modern farming systems across dairy and sheep.

To be successful in appointment to this position, you will need to have a strong work ethic and proven experience working in a rural setting.
