These services support student engagement and study success, promote student retention and positive graduate outcomes, and ensure a first-class student experience for CQUniversity’s diverse student body.
In this important and dynamic role, you will provide team leadership and operational oversight of the Student Wellbeing Services, including targeted supports for a range of student cohorts such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, Equity Eligible students (via the Higher Education Participation and Partnership Program) and International students. Services include face-to-face, online, and telehealth offerings, and are also integrated into the curriculum.
Reporting to the Chief Wellbeing Officer, you will work collaboratively with the Manager Student Counselling, Manager Safer Communities and the People and Culture Safety and Wellbeing team to promote and implement the outcomes of Mindwaves 2.0, CQUniversity’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan. This plan supports the mental health, safety and social and emotional wellbeing of students and staff across the CQUniversity footprint. You will also work collaboratively with students to co-design projects and positively engage with stakeholders through all phases of project implementation, from initial data collection to project planning, facilitation, and evaluation.
Position Requirements
Hold qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field (psychology, social work, counselling, public health), with a minimum of two years of related post-qualification experience.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of holistic mental health and wellbeing, including various models and approaches to health promotion.
Possess knowledge of mental health and wellbeing issues, their impact on attrition and retention, and experience in supporting students navigating transitional challenges.
Demonstrated experience in project planning and program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and contingency planning.
Demonstrated capacity to engage positively and collaboratively with key stakeholders.
High-level interpersonal skills with outstanding oral, written, and online communication skills, along with the ability to develop and deliver psycho / social / educational modules and seminars.
Experience supporting individuals navigating transitional issues, with a demonstrated ability to apply an intersectional lens to wellbeing services, and providing mental health interventions to people from diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures.
