Are you a Career Educator passionate about providing career education to current and prospective students? Do you enjoy the idea of being part of a team that uses career education to support the development of career decision-making, and development of skills, knowledge, and competencies that support access to higher education, to change lives and positively impact and uplift communities?
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Career Outreach Officer to join our Career Education Team and we would love to hear from you!
What you’ll do
You will play a pivotal role in supporting the career development and employability learning for students in schools and people from non-education groups, towards increasing the participation in and access to higher education and supporting students’ development to transition more effectively into post-secondary education or work. In doing so, you will:
- Support the design and delivery of evidence-based, scaffolded career education programs for school students, people from non-education cohorts, educators, and influencers.
- Contribute to the delivery of educative on-campus career events that support career and study decision-making skills, confidence in attending post-secondary education, and knowledge and awareness of career and education pathways.
- Foster career development and holistic education theories and practices to shape educative programs that respond to educational reform, national workforce needs, and in alignment with institutional strategic priorities.
- Have the knowledge of, and ability to apply, equitable and inclusive learning practices that reflect community needs, and support the University’s objectives in working as part of the Queensland Widening Participation Consortium.
What will help you succeed?
Together with your relevant qualifications and experience, you will have outstanding communication skills and an innovative mindset. Your ability to see opportunities for improvement combined with your ability to adapt to new tasks, will be a key factor to your success in this role. You will also have:
- Strong system literacy or be comfortable with the challenge of using new platforms and systems.
- A values-driven approach with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for presenting to others.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience in organising and prioritising projects.
- An adaptable and agile approach, with an ability to apply career development learning in an innovative way to produce impactful outcomes for participating students.

Term: Full-time continuing appointment (36 hrs/week)
Salary: Total remuneration range $104,689 to $113,382 pa (includes salary range of $88,457 to $95,802 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
