Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Research Programme Coordinator will primarily be supporting our researchers within the faculty with effective research project coordination, navigation of research support services and operational pre- and post-award support.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to support the coordination and administration of our research programs. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff to facilitate the success of our research initiatives.

Key responsibilities include (not limited too):

  • Provide exemplary operational research support to allocated researchers throughout the research lifecycle, navigating researchers to the appropriate functions
  • Assist the researcher to finalise and submit research proposals, including collecting relevant information and approvals,
  • Assist with developing and monitoring the project budget, including forecasting, variations, and expense approval,
  • Monitor projects within your portfolio and work with your researchers to ensure they are on track and able to meet their contracted obligations
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate University and Funder policies, guidelines, and protocols.

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week) permanent position

Remuneration: $58,300 - $72,700 per annum dependent on experience

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

The Faculty is made up of 10 schools/departments and has a number of cross-disciplinary research themes to stimulate new thinking and collaboration, facilitating a lift in the quality of our research and the ability to attract new research funding.

The 16 Research Programme Coordinators in the team play an important role in supporting science researchers to obtain research funding and subsequently support various post-award processes on research projects. Working alongside our 6 Research Programme Managers you will have valuable opportunities to learn new skills in a collaborative and supportive team environment.  

He kōrero mōu | About you

Our ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification and have experience supporting academic or research staff. You will also have previous experience with project administration or coordination and navigating complex administrative systems.

  • Experience preparing and managing budgets
  • Adept at working collaboratively across various functions and within your team, whilst having the autonomy to manage your own portfolio
  • Experience working with financial systems as well as grant applications and process management
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a busy environment, balancing multiple demands
  • Passionate about supporting important research that contributes to society
