SEE Program Participant Support Officer

About the Role 

If you are a highly motivated vocational/employment services worker with a passion for educational support and career guidance, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a difference to Swinburne’s students.


We are seeking a SEE Program Participant Support Officer who will play a crucial role in empowering participants to achieve their educational and career goals. You will be responsible for developing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to each participant's needs, providing coaching and mentoring, and monitoring progress to ensure success and retention. As a dedicated member of the Migrant English and General Education Department, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students at the Croydon, Wantirna, and Hawthorn campuses.


The SEE Program (Skills for Education and Employment) is free English language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) training provided by the Australian government. It provides training to individuals to help them improve their LLND skills, enabling them to undertake further training, gain employment and/or actively engage in the community.


About You 

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience in related work and study assistance including; vocational assistance, study support, recruitment, career guidance and employment services.
  • A proven record of managing customer enquiries and a demonstrated commitment to customer service including follow up and closure activities.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication and demonstrated computer skills including the use of word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build trust with vulnerable people and a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.


Qualifications

  • Relevant post-graduate or vocational qualification in Career Development, Vocational Training and Assessment and/or significant experience.

OR

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or
  • Extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields, or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
