A Research Associate position is available at the University of Manchester to work on the UKRI/EPSRC funded project ad-ASSTRA: Towards A Sustainable Space Technology Roadmapping Architecture (6-months) and the University of Manchester funded project Visions of, and steps towards, an Environmentally Sustainable Space Future (6-months). You will be working with Dr Ciara McGrath, the Principal Investigator (PI) for the projects, collaborators at the MIT Astrodynamics, Space Robotics, and Controls Lab (ARCLab), and the interdisciplinary team at the University of Manchester.
Key aims of the role include:
- Supporting research activities in the Space Systems Research group in the School of Engineering focused on Sustainable Space Mission Analysis and Design.
- Developing technical models of environmental impacts of space missions to facilitate assessment.
- Knowledge exchange with stakeholders, the interdisciplinary team and project partners.
As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration’s (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application UKVI.
