About the role

Bournemouth University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Researcher in Psychology to join our team. The role is offered on a fixed term basis for 19 months, and for 22.2 hours per week.

The successful candidate will work on a grant-funded project by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). This project aims to assess and enhance the acceptability and early feasibility of a brief emotion-focused intervention for adults on an NHS waiting list for treatment for binge-eating.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• PhD in Psychology or related field
• Experience of conducting research
• Understanding of working with clinical populations
• Experience of collecting, analysing and synthesizing qualitative data, or showing ability and willingness to learn
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, able to build rapport when meeting new people
• Highly effective organizational and time management skills
• Strong writing abilities
• Proactive and able to act on own initiative within specified boundaries
• Able to problem solve and develop solutions
• Ability to work collaboratively in partnership with a large multidisciplinary team
• Capable of working in and adapting to a fast-paced environment and working under pressure
• Ability to formulate and articulate sound judgements based on analysis and interpretation of a range of complex information 

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.
