Summary

The African American Studies Program, housed within the Division of Social Sciences, at Saint Xavier University, invites applications for the ongoing pool of part-time adjunct faculty teaching in the interdisciplinary undergraduate African American Studies minor program. The division is looking to create a pool of adjuncts who could contribute to courses routinely offered by the minor, and therefore could include elective courses in the applicant’s area of expertise and interest. As an interdisciplinary minor, adjunct course offerings could span a wide range of fields, for example, history. We are looking for applicants who are able to teach face-to-face or online courses.

Qualifications

• Doctorate preferred; Master’s degree acceptable

• Evidence of effective teaching experience

• Teaching training

• Residency in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Michigan, or Arizona

Applicants should provide a cover letter and curriculum vitae, which specifies undergraduate African American Studies courses taught, and separately, undergraduate African American Studies courses qualified to teach, and teaching training. Each file should be labeled with the last name first (e.g., Lastname_CV.docx). Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. References will be contacted later to submit letters of recommendation.

Questions about the position or institution can be directed to Dr. Angela Pirlott, Interim Dean, College of Liberal Arts & Education and search committee chair, at pirlott@sxu.edu.
