The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) seeks a faculty member seeks an Assistant Professor for the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior. This position involves care of child and adolescents in the departmental outpatient clinic. Duties would include serving as supervisor of a psychology intern clinic, as well as providing direct services without learners present. Support would also be offered for facilitating pre-clinical medical student case-based learning small groups.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a steady, clinical caseload in the Psychiatry and Health Behavior Outpatient clinic equivalent to 65% of the position’s total effort or 3.5 days per week to include, if requested, provision of clinical services at community agencies contracting with the Department.
  • Provide clinical assessment and treatment services at the Augusta University Medical Center Cystic Fibrosis Clinic equivalent to 30% of the position’s total effort.
  • Participate in didactics within the psychology and psychiatry residency training programs. Clinical supervision/consultation and didactics should account for 5% of the position’s total effort.

Required Qualifications

PhD

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

•            Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)’s requirements for institutional accreditation;

•            Evidence of ability as a teacher;

•            Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

•            Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

•            Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation’s largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class.
