Position Summary

The Director of Resource Management is responsible for the day to day management of all Student Affairs and Campus Diversity (SACD) divisional resources including financial resources, human resources and facilities/space resources. They serve as the divisional liaison with SDSU HR and SDSURF HR, providing assistance and guidance to managers and their staff pertaining to all SACD personnel matters and processes. They are responsible for managing and balancing the annual budget for SACD. They conduct research and analysis required to ensure compliance with Federal, state, CSU system and/or campus policies, perform budget forecasting and prepare reports.

The Director of Resource Management Serves as the supervisor and mentor to the Resource Management team and has dotted line supervisory responsibility for departmental budget coordinators.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Department Summary

Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Resource Management is responsible for the prudent day to day management of divisional fiscal resources, human resources and facilities administration including but not limited to planning, analysis, forecasting and management of all divisional resources.  

Primary areas of budget responsibility include fiscal management of all revenue sources including state, revenue, enterprise, lottery, foundation and special funds. Primary human resource responsibilities including staff planning, tracking, analysis and forecasting, as well as monitoring and reconciliation of the monthly payroll and position management for the Division. Primary facilities management involves coordination of construction, renovation and/or relocation projects for the division or departments within the division.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, economics, student services, public or business administration OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired
  • Minimum of one to three years of supervisory experience or providing lead work direction for staff with financial transition responsibilities
  • Experience with accounting and HR software, such as Oracle, Adaptive, PeopleSoft, etc.

Key Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, problems and methods of public administration including organizational, personnel and fiscal management
  • Experience working with Human Resources procedures in a collective bargaining environment
  • Facilities, projects and/or renovation management
  • Skill in planning, organizing, coordinating and performing work in situations where numerous diverse demands are involved

Compensation and Benefits

San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. San Diego State University also offers a rich benefits package that includes:

Anticipated hiring range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually
