Lecturers/Senior Lecturers-Built Environment Engineering x 3
- Contribute to a paradigm shift in built environment education, research, and practice
- Create exceptional student-centered learning experiences
- Build productive partnerships with professions, industry, iwi, and community partners
Huri Te Ao The School of Future Environments at AUT, established in 2020, is AUT's newest school. Our mission is to develop innovative, ecologically-oriented programmes in Architecture, Built Environment Engineering, Construction Management, and Emerging Technologies, as well as to make meaningful connections across those fields.
The School is strongly committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Mātauranga Māori. We aspire to shape our future environments by responding to Te Ao Māori, Moana-nui- a-Kiwa identity, and the multi-cultural diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand.
As Aotearoa New Zealand's only university of technology, we are optimistic about the positive contribution that our programmes and our graduates can make to solving the environmental challenges of the 21st century. The School is based in Te Ara Auaha the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, a diverse community of teachers, researchers, thinkers, makers, and doers, working in an environment designed to foster collaboration and innovation.
We invite applications from academics and practitioners in Built Environment Engineering or related disciplines who have the ambition, courage, and expertise to reimagine how we design and build the environments in which we live, work, and play. A key factor in the selection process will be a demonstrable interest in AI and the digital transformation of the construction industry, combined with nature-based solutions and a (re-)integration of intuitive human cultural factors in complex construction environments. We currently seek expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Quantity Surveying
- Construction Management for "Construction 4.0/5.0" environments
- Regenerative Infrastructures
In addition, they will be expected to:
- Be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Be able to deliver high-quality education that meets the needs of students, industry, and professional groups
- Inspire and support student achievement
- Develop a strong programme of applied research
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum development
- Have effective communication skills, and a demonstrable commitment to collaboration and working in a team.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant Built Environment discipline. While there will be an expectation to teach in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Civil, Construction, Architectural Engineering, and Project Management, we are also very keen to hear from people who can advance research and practice across the wider School.
Appointments will be made at a level appropriate to qualifications and experience and can commence at a mutually agreeable date. Applications for permanent part-time or fractional positions will also be considered.
