Teaching Administrator
The Department of Physics is looking to recruit an exceptional Teaching Administrator to join the Undergraduate Teaching Office. The Teaching Office is a busy central hub for all teaching coordination and administration activities supporting teaching to around 900 students each year, utilising approximately 70 University Teaching Officers (UTOs) and Researchers.
We are seeking an exceptional and highly personable administrator, ideally with some experience of working in a science or technology department (or related) at a higher education institution. You will be friendly, and have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with modern office and web software. You will be flexible and willing to help other members of the wider team if required.
Given the demands of teaching cycles and examination periods, the role requires a flexible approach to working patterns and the ability to adjust priorities when needed.
Whilst the Department is supportive of hybrid working, we would like to draw applicants' attention to the on-site requirements for this position, which should be understood before applying.
The role holder will be based on-site during their initial 6-month probation period. In addition, applicants should be aware of on-site requirements during the first week of each term, as well as during exams. The exam timetable also includes two bank holidays and up to 3 Saturdays between May and mid-June. The role holder will be paid overtime at the commensurate rate or offered time off in lieu if this is preferred, for time worked on these two bank holidays and Saturdays.
If you are enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to supporting high quality teaching in the world-leading Cavendish Laboratory, we would love to hear from you!
