- Base salary will be in the range $111,154.58 - $124,619.84 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 8)
- Based at our St Lucia Campus
About This Opportunity
The Advancement Manager works under the broad direction of the Director, Advancement, to develop and execute strategies and programs to source and actively secure gifts, donations and other philanthropic funding to the Queensland Brain Institute. The position-holder will manage a high-quality portfolio of leadership and major gift prospects and donors, contribute to stewardship efforts to UQ in collaboration with Advancement colleagues, and build relationships with potential supporters to create greater awareness of QBI’s research activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Serve as one of the key liaison for advancement matters related to the QBI
- Create plans to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects, who may include high net worth individuals, corporations, trusts, foundations, and other organisations; this would include face-to-face solicitation and gift negotiations, fostering significant long-lasting relationships with potential benefactors and/or key influencers.
- Manage QBI’s peer-to-peer program
- Facilitate and coordinate all communication with these prospects and among the prospect’s relationships across UQ.
- Develop appropriate solicitation materials and tailored proposals to increase the number of gifts, donations and other philanthropic funding.

About You
- A relevant postgraduate degree with extensive experience in fundraising or an equivalent combination of relevant experience (minimum 5 years).
- A working understanding of the principles of philanthropy and fundraising.
- An awareness of the Australian fundraising environment, ethical issues pertaining to Advancement work, philanthropy and its application to research institutes and universities.
Desirable
- Knowledge of fundraising in the higher education sector.
- Proven experience in development, implementation and administration of fundraising plans and programs, preferably in an education/research setting, with a demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts prospects and a track record of closing gifts.
- Proven ability to manage and maintain key stakeholder networks along with experience working with volunteers in a fundraising context.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the negotiations and settlement of complex issues.
- Ability to create professional documentation including proposals, applications and reports.
