We are looking to recruit a full-time Teaching Associate in the Sociology of Racisms, Race, and Ethnicity from 1 September 2025 or as soon after as possible to provide teaching in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge for a fixed term until 31 July 2026. Term starts on 7 October 2025.
Duties include:
- Teaching, marking, and supervision primarily on SOC11 Racism, Race and Ethnicity paper, and contributing to other undergraduate papers such as SOC3 Global Social Problems and Dynamics of Resistance, SOC6 Advanced Social Theory, SOC4 Concepts and Arguments in Sociology, and supervising for the Dissertation in Sociology.
- Teaching and supervising on the Sociology MPhil on the Marginality and Inequality pathway.
- Leading seminars and classes on research methods or other topics to postgraduate students within the Department.
General duties include teaching, teaching administration, course development and innovation, and examining. The Teaching Associate will support and maintain the Department's and University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching.
Requirements: Relevant teaching experience, a PhD in a relevant field, and demonstrated active, collegial engagement in teaching and outreach in the Sociology of Racisms, Race and Ethnicity. The candidate should be an engaging and confident teacher at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, or looking to develop postgraduate teaching skills.
