We are now looking for two Teaching Associates to join us on a part-time, permanent basis (0.5FTE and 0.4FTE).

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced and highly qualified psychotherapeutic lecturers with experience working with children and younger people to join our world-renowned institution.

You'll have the chance to teach and mentor future child and adolescent psychotherapeutic counsellors within one of the world's most respected educational environments, strengthening your academic profile while helping to establish strong foundations for the next generation of practitioners.

The Role

As a Teaching Associate, you will support the delivery of our highly regarded Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling Postgraduate Professional Development (PPD) programme for professionals working with children and young people.

In this role, you will contribute to teaching across theory, experiential arts and practice-based learning within a relational and integrative framework. Specifically, you will plan and deliver lectures, seminars and workshops, collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, and help ensure teaching remains aligned with current research and professional standards.

You will also play a central role in supporting and assessing students throughout their training, providing personal tutoring, supervising academic and research work, and observing clinical practice within practicums.

Additionally, you will:

  • Supervise a caseload of personal tutees
  • Review and update module reading lists in line with emerging research
  • Contribute to team meetings and reflective teaching practice

To be considered as a Teaching Associate, you will need:

  • Significant experience of working therapeutically with children and young people
  • Experience of successfully developing and delivering teaching at university level, including both lectures and seminars or smaller group work
  • An integrative approach to therapy with children and young people
  • Competence in working reflexively with different creative arts and play methods
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, and a high level of attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues
  • A proven specialist academic interest in the subject
  • A professional qualification and accreditation/registration in counselling and/or psychotherapy from UKCP
  • A postgraduate qualification in counselling and/or psychotherapy
